On 14 November 2015, Orchard Road was transformed into a colourful display of bells and baubles. Themed “Christmas on A GREAT STREET”, this year marked the 25th time that the Hitachi Group of Companies has been bringing Christmas cheer to visitors as the main sponsor for this signature festive light-up.

At the light-up ceremony held at ION Orchard Atrium, Mr Ichiro Iino, Chief Executive for Asia-Pacific, Hitachi, Ltd. & Chairman, Hitachi Asia Ltd., represented the Hitachi Group of Companies in Singapore to present a cheque of S$250,000 to the Community Chest, the fund-raising arm of the National Council of Social Services. As part of the nation’s jubilee celebration, the Care & Share Scheme was extended to this year where all donations will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the Government. Hitachi is delighted that our donation will be doubled through this scheme and aid more beneficiaries. During the ceremony, Mr Hirohiko Morisaki, Managing Director, Hitachi Asia Ltd., also received a token of appreciation from Singapore President Tony Tan Keng Yam.

The highlight of the night took place when President Tony Tan activated the light-up mechanism on stage. Instantly, the stretch along Orchard Road was lit up in a magnificent display of kaleidoscopic decor and designs. Other than the centrepiece main arch at the Scotts Road and Paterson Road junction, a mini arch with Hitachi branding located at ION roadside along Orchard Road was also popular with visitors.

Visitors can enjoy the Christmas lights daily from Saturday, 14 November 2015 to Sunday, 3 January 2016.
